Chalk Fest 2015

Image
Hey guys! So the other night, I attended an event in my town called Chalk Fest. At Chalk Fest, people can draw on the sidewalks of my city's square. It was so great to see all of the things people drew, and I am always so amazed by the talent some people have. Here are some of my favorites! Aren't these amazing?? I got especially excited about the All Time Low one! xx Heidi

Taking Care of Myself

Hey guys, Today's post is going to be kind of serious--so sorry about that. I'll just get right into it. A few months ago, I started a new job. I really liked my job. My co-workers were really nice, they seemed flexible with scheduling, the pay was great, and the hours were just what I was looking for. I loved the job itself, too. However, things weren't quite right there. The store manager wasn't very friendly. As time went on, he got worse and worse. The comments he made to me were often very rude, and whenever he talked to me he was extremely condescending. He sometimes even yelled at me in the middle of the store and I had to hide in the back and cry until I was calm enough to come back out and do my job again. When talking with my co-workers, most of the females said that he'd made them cry multiple times, and that he gets right into the faces of the male workers and scream at them. It wasn't so bad at first, but today when I talked to him and ...

Life Lately: April

Image
Hi there! This month has gone by so quickly and I have been so busy that I suddenly realized I haven't written any posts in ages. It slipped my mind with so many other things going on. Luckily, I'll be done with school in a couple of weeks, so I will be less swamped with homework and papers and projects. Today I'll just give you a look into what I've been up to that's kept me so busy. Posts next month will go back to normal. So here's what's happened this month... First of all, aside from school, I've been kept pretty busy knitting and crocheting things for people. I made this manatee for myself. These are baby shoes I crocheted for a friend of my mom for her baby girl, so cute! This is a cowl that I'm working on right now that I'm giving to my mom for Mother's Day. She got me the pattern and yarn to make it for myself after she saw it in this blue in the shop. She talked about that yarn so much that I went o...

Early Mornings

Image
Hey everyone! So, it's pretty unusual for me to be up and writing a post this early in the morning (it's currently 9:08 AM). I am most definitely NOT a morning person, and I find it to be very, very difficult to drag my sleepy butt out of bed in the mornings. However, this morning, I had a meeting with one of my professors scheduled for 9:00 this morning. I ended up being about 20 minutes early, and the meeting only lasted about five minutes. So here I am at school two hours before I have to work.  While it really isn't fun getting up early, I sort of like being awake in the morning. I feel like I have so much more time to get things done and so much more to see. Right now, I'm getting all of my homework done so I can enjoy myself after work tonight. It's kind of nice getting everything done in the morning and then having the rest of the day to myself! I think I'd like to be a morning person, but I don't really see that ever happening....

Life Update: March

Hey there! I have been a terrible blogger recently, and I'm sorry about that. I have just been soooo busy, so I thought I'd let you guys know what's been going on in my life. I started a new job! A couple of weeks ago I started working in a craft store called Hobby Lobby. I'm still pretty new, so it's a little scary still, but I really enjoy my job there so far. Also, it makes buying tons and tons of yarn more affordable :D I recently made a Facebook page which I talked about in my  last post . Basically, I post stuff I knit/crochet and people can ask me to make one for them. This past week, I've gotten four new orders- I'm making 3 ninja turtles and a Minnie Mouse. This is my first round of orders since I made the page, so that's pretty exciting! In the fall, I'm moving two hours away from home to a new city to start at a new university. This morning, I filled out my housing application. I've also been buying some things for my room the...

New Semester Stress

Hi there! Today I'll be ranting, sorry about that aha... On Monday, I started school again. I'm currently a sophomore in college. Usually, I don't mind the school I go to. But so far this semester, it's been nothing but headaches. Let me explain. I go to a two-year university. Since I am pursuing a four-year degree, this means that I will go here for two years, and then transfer to a four-year university. I did this because the school I currently go to is twenty minutes from home and is quite a few thousand dollars cheaper. I decided to go to this school so that I could save money, and hopefully have less debt when I finally graduate. (Also my parents can keep cooking for me and doing my laundry and I can still have my cat, haha) The problem with going to a two-year school and then transferring to another school is that the two schools, though technically in the same university system, work separately. It is my job to figure out what classes will actual...

Life Update: Blogmas Day 9

Hello everybody! I would like to apologize in advance for the lameness of this post, as it's just a boring ol' update. But I still do want to let everybody know what's been going on with me, and why I'm having such trouble keeping up on here. First, I have my final exams next week. This means studying for lots of tests, and getting projects done by Friday for those professors who don't want to have to come in next week. This means that I am incredibly busy, and I'm just really hoping that my blog (and my grades!) won't suffer for it. Last weekend, I visited my sister at her university and spent the whole weekend hanging out with her. Over the course of three days, we watched 5 Harry Potter films and 2 Harry Potter fan musicals. These pretty much just played in the background while we did homework. My sister and I are extremely close, so I was very sad when I had to leave. I literally cried the entire two hour drive home! On Friday night, I a...

This Is Getting Out Of Hand

Hello everyone! So today's post is a bit of a quick update. When I began this blog last April, it was just something I wanted to try. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, what I would talk about, if I would even enjoy it, or if anyone would read it. I am very happy to say that I love blogging and am so happy that I started it. On a whim, I decided to make a second blog about books. I would post reviews and recommendations, and offer editing for writers. Currently, this blog isn't live yet, as I'm trying to make it as nice as possible first. Two blogs, I decided, I can handle. The day after I began working on my second blog, my sister's boyfriend (who makes websites for a living) asked me if he could make a blog for me, mostly so he could gain some experience using different blogging websites. I said yes, as it's quite hard to turn down a free, professionally made blog. However, now I have the dilemma of having THREE BLOGS that I have no...

We The Kings

Image
Hello everyone! Last Wednesday, I finally got to see one of my favorite bands. If you haven't heard of We The Kings, you can check out their music  here . Three of the members of the band are also YouTubers and have daily vlog channels. You can check those out too! Here are the channels for  Travis Clark ,  Danny Duncan , and  Charles Trippy . We The Kings had a show two hours from where I live at the university that my friend goes to, so I also got the opportunity to see a friend I hadn't gotten to hang out with in a while. As soon as I got to the city, my friend and I went straight to the venue. We were hoping to see the band, and we did! This is Travis Clark, the lead singer. He is such a nice guy! When we saw him and asked for pictures he stopped and talked to us for a really long time. Here I am with the drummer, Danny Duncan. This picture is super blurry because I was so nervous and excited that my hands were shaking really bad! ...

Family Weekend

Image
Hi everyone! This past weekend, I went to visit my sister, who recently moved away to go to college. It was Family Weekend, so there were all sorts of activities planned. First, we went to a bonfire. It was at this little cottage with a beautiful view. The next day, we went for a walk on one of the nature trails that surrounded the campus. The path that we took led us to this gorgeous beach, as well as some great sights in the woods. We decided to eat on campus that night. Inside one of the buildings, I saw these chalk drawings. They're so well done! Art students draw different things here almost daily. On the last day, we walked more on the beautiful trails. We even found some snakes! I had such a great weekend. I miss my sister like crazy, so I was happy to get to spend some time with her.  xx Heidi
