Becoming a Runner

Image
I have never been, by any means, a runner. I am in no way athletic, sporty, or fit. The only time I ever did any running was when they made me in high school, and even then I did it grudgingly. I've always rolled my eyes when people said they loved running, or who couldn't go a day without going for a run. However, I have always been extremely jealous of those people. Though I rolled my eyes, I've always wished for the feeling that I had  to run, or even that I wanted to run. I went my whole life without doing anything about it. I just decided that I wasn't a runner, and I wasn't going to be. Luckily, I have changed my attitude about that, and now I know that, with some work, anyone can become a runner if they want to be. Here are some tips if, like me, you are interested in taking up running, but don't know how. 1. Just get out and go. This seems obvious, but really, the hardest thing is dragging my butt out of bed at 6 am to run befo...

Writing Tips: Blogmas Day 6

Image
With finals coming up for most of you, I thought it would a good idea to share some writing tips. I am an English major and currently work at my university as a writing tutor, so I have to handle A LOT of essays. In addition to academic writing, I think that these tips can apply to blog posts, too. Quite often, there are mistakes and typos that you can't see because you know what it is supposed to say. Most universities have writing centers where a tutor will read over your papers and help you start writing them. These services are generally free. Write in a place where you ca...

Life Tips For Every Girl

1. Always take your makeup off before bed.  I know you're tired. I know you're comfortable. But seriously, your face will thank you. 2. Wear the shoes you want.  I don't care if you're seven feet tall. Strap on those six inch heel and rock them! Also, shorter people are just as entitled to wearing flats as tall people, even if that means we have to look up to talk to people.  3. Wear what makes you comfortable.  Sure that dress makes you look great, but can you even move in it? You'll look (and feel!) your best when you're comfortable and confident. 4. Don't be afraid to wear things that are a little out there.  I'm not saying you should dress like Lady Gaga. Just take a leap and buy those kind of crazy shoes, or that unique patterned top! If you like it, wear it. 5. Believe in something. Whether that something is God, an ideal, whatever, you need to believe in it with all your heart.  6. Set goals for yourself. You need to set goals ...
