Earlier this summer, my family and I decided that we wanted to try something new. So, we signed up for a class and locked ourselves in a sweltering room for a day. We tried glass blowing! First of all, we all showed up wearing flip flops and shorts, a big no-no when it comes to dealing with melted glass that's about 2,000 degrees. However, after the instructor assured us that, "eh, it'll be fine", we headed into the studio to start working. We picked out what kind of project we wanted to do, picked out what colors we wanted, and got right to work. I was really surprised by how much work the instructor had us do on our projects. Of course, she helped make sure I didn't completely ruin my piece, but I actually heated, shaped, and worked the glass, and blew the glass into shape at the end.  I decided to make a bowl. As a blogger, an English major, and a writer for The Odyssey, it's probably not a surprise that I spend a lot of my time writing, whether that's blog posts, papers, or other assignments. While writing takes up quite a bit of my time, I still do have lots of time for other things. Here are some things I do when I'm not writing... Reading Knitting/crochet Sleeping (naps are SO underrated) Going out with friends Binge-watching things on Netflix Taking walks outside (when it's nice out) Watching BookTube videos Online shopping Random internet browsing Sewing/crafting Playing games Daydreaming Those are just a few of the things that I like to do when I'm not writing. Hey there! So some fun things have happened this week. First, I've started working again. I applied a ton of places and finally decided on Hobby Lobby. I love knitting and sewing and other crafty things, so I thought it would be a really good fit for me! My first day was yesterday, and though I didn't do much other than signing paperwork and watching boring safety videos, I liked it, and I think I'm really gonna enjoy working there. Also, I've been looking for a way to sell things I make. Like I said before, I love making things and crafty things, and I often have people ask me to make them things. So, I've started a Facebook page called Heidi's Creations, where I'll be posting things I make for people to buy. This affects you guys, too!
