The Beauty Blogger Tag: Blogmas Day 22

Image
Hi there! So today I'm doing the beauty blogger tag. I wasn't really sure about this one, since I would NOT consider myself a beauty blogger. But I figured that since I sometimes do posts about beauty and not all of the questions are beauty related, I'm close enough. 1. Is your hair naturally straight or curly? Straight, with zero curls or waves whatsoever. 2. Do you dye your hair? Nope. The only dye I've ever used was a little bit of pink, purple, and blue. 3. Do you wear the same hairstyle everyday or change it? I'm pretty lazy in the morning so I wear the same almost every day. 4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon? I do my own. 5. How often do you change your nail polish? Once a month at least (usually). 6. How long does it take you to put on your makeup? About 5 minutes. 7. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need? I just buy what I need, except for lipstick. I am constantly buying lipstick. ...

One Minute Hairstyle: Blogmas Day 18

Image
Hello there! Today I wanted to share with you a hairstyle that I tried a few weeks ago and which turned out really well. I got this from a video I found on YouTube (you can watch it  here ) that had a few really nice and easy quick hairstyles. I tried the one (I think it's the third one in the video) where you actually tie your hair in knots. I was a bit nervous about this, but I think that it actually turned out looking really nice! Also, it came out when I wanted it to (I was a bit worried about this, seeing as how I had actually just tied knots in my hair!). xx Heidi

November Favorites: Blogmas Day 4

Image
Hello there! This past month, I have found some products/songs/whatnot that I love. First, I've found myself using these two lipsticks I recently ordered from Avon. The colors are Matte Ruby and Wineberry. Matte Ruby is a nice red that I like to wear for a classy look. Wineberry is a deeper, winter color that I've also been wearing a lot. There is another lipstick that I've been wearing a lot. It's Lovely Fuchsia by Avon. I got the sample for free in a coffee shop from a woman who sells Avon and had a booth set up there. Since I currently only have the small sample, I have asked for a full tube for Christmas. "Sleep" pillow mist from Bath & Body Works has been my lifesaver. As a person who deals with insomnia, there are some nights when I just can't sleep, no matter how tired I am. This yummy smelling pillow mist has a scent that is so relaxing that it helps me to fall asleep quickly. I recently bought a bun...

Top Ten Tag: Blogmas Day 1

Image
I was nominated by the wonderful  Kenzie  to do the top ten tag. To be honest, I don't wear a lot of makeup, but there are still some products that I really like that I use now and then.  1. Foundation The foundation I have been using for years is L'oreal True Match.  2. Concealer I currently don't have a go-to concealer, so I would love any suggestions that you have! 3. Powder Again, I've been using L'oreal True Match for years. 4. Blush I don't use blush. 5. Shampoo This one was originally "bronzer", but Kenzie changed it and, since I don't wear bronzer either, I'm going to keep it. I don't always stick to the same scent, but I really do like White Rain brand shampoo and conditioner. It makes my hair feel so soft and look shiny and healthy. 6. Lotion The lotion I use is usually small bottles from Bath & Body Works that I've been given as gifts over the years. 7. Mascara The mascara I...

So Many Scarves!

Image
As autumn approaches, the weather is cooling down. While I love summer, cooler weather allows me to start wearing some of my scarves! I absolutely love scarves, since they can add so much to an outfit as well as keeping you warm (a much needed thing in Wisconsin!). Here is my scarf collection! (By the way, putting shower curtain rings on a hanger to store your scarves is a great way to store them without taking up much space!) These are my infinity scarves. It's a bit hard to see, but I LOVE the burgundy one that's second from the right-it has dinosaurs on it!!! I taught myself to knit over the winter, and the pink one on the right is the first thing I made. The pink one on the left is the next one I did. That pattern was a bit more complicated. My mom made the blue one in the middle.  I bought this pink scarf from a store called Mango when I was in Paris. This scarf is one of my favorites. I love my silly moustache scarf! The shiny r...

Shopping Adventure

Image
This past Wednesday, I went shopping at the Mall Of America. One of my birthday presents this year was a shopping trip there. My mom, sister, and I drove over for the day. We arrived at the mall just in time for lunch. We decided to eat at an old favorite, the Rainforest Cafe. If you've never been to one, the inside of the restaurant is decorated like a rainforest, complete with waterfalls, animal sounds, and even thunderstorms.  These cute fish were right next to our table. Here is my "Rainforest Ricky", a smoothie made with orange sherbert, apple, pineapple, orange, strawberry, and grapefruit juices. It was delicious! Here I am with my mom and sister, ready to get to some shopping! Here is all the stuff I bought! LUSH SIX CHARLOTTE RUSSE FOREVER 21 DELIA'S A'GACI WET SEAL RAGSTOCK MARSHALLS ...

Product Review: SPLAT Hair Dye

Image
Hello! I've done this sort of review post before and enjoyed writing it, so I thought I'd do another. The product I'll be reviewing today is SPLAT hair dye. The colors I've used and will be talking about are Pink Fetish, Lusty Lavender, and Blue Envy. I am beyond pleased with this product! The instructions were easy to follow, the dye didn't stain my skin, and it really lasts! Also, my hair still felt soft and healthy. Depending on how long you want the color to last, you can leave the dye in for 10-30 minutes. I left the dye for about 20 minutes. I did this in February, and there is still some color left six months later! The first time I washed my hair after dying, it only bled a little, and didn't bleed at all after that. There is bleach that you can use to lighten your hair so the color stands out better, but I didn't use it, as my hair is already very light. Last year, I got the same thing done in a salon. This was more expens...

Product Review: Avon Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover Lotion

Image
I've been using this for a while, and I absolutely love it! It is very inexpensive, and Avon products are very easy to get a hold of. It's only $4.00, but I recently saw it on the Avon website for only $0.99! I use this daily to take off my eye makeup, but it especially comes in handy when I have eyeliner wings or designs.  Put just a dab of the lotion on a cotton ball and spread it around with your fingers. It doesn't take much to get the makeup off, so it is very long lasting! Rub the cotton ball over your eye makeup, and it comes right off! I can usually take of the wings I make with liquid eyeliner in one swipe. Since it's a lotion, it can make your skin feel a little oily if you use too much, which is easy to do. I recommend using this product to take off your eye make up and then washing your face with the face wash you normally use.  Pros inexpensive long  lasting works really well Cons oily feeling

Still Winter...

Image
Hello everyone! So here in Wisconsin, it's still very very wintery. We had a few days where the snow was melting like crazy and it was even warm enough for me to sit outside and read! However, it's now snowing again. Ugh. As you'll find out from how much I complain about the cold, I'm not the biggest fan of winter. While I'm not a fan of icy-cold temperatures and slippery roads, I have to admit that winter is pretty beautiful. Recently, it was becoming very warm and the snow was melting. That is until, suddenly, it got very cold again. This is a tree outside of my house. The melting snow froze around the tree so that the whole thing was coated in ice. You can even see some icicles hanging from it. This is honestly one of the most beautiful things I've seen.  Unfortunately I didn't get a decent photo of this, but there is a huge wooded area with a river cutting through it near my house. Every tree there was coated in ice and sparkled ...
